But Ted is quoted saying that Applet&#039;s suffered from incompatibilities and then they became frozen in time.

	<title>Unobtrusive Event Handling with Prototype</title>
    <link>http://web2announcer.com/go/2662325</link>
    <author>unknown@DZone.com</author>
    <content:encoded>
    JavaScript is commonly used to add functionality to HTML documents. There are two ways to do this, with level one event handlers or using unobtrusive JavaScript. One allows you only to assign one event handler to an event at a time and is deeply coupled to your HTML markup. The other allows you to assign as many event handlers to an event as you wish and completely removes JavaScript from your markup. Do you know which is which? This tutorial will cover what the difference is, why using unobtrusive JavaScript is a better approach and how to implement unobtrusive event handlers using the Prototype JavaScript library.

	<title>The Other RIA Desktop Platform: Curl Nitro</title>
    <link>http://web2announcer.com/go/2662196</link>

    <content:encoded>
    Curl is another player in the RIA (Rich Internet Applications) space, going up against Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe&#039;s Flex platform, and OpenLazlo, among others. The Curl platform provides developers a way to build web-based apps that can&#039;t be easily built using Ajax or other web-based technologies. Those apps can be deployed both within the web browser or on the desktop via Curl Nitro, an extension of the Curl platform. To show off what Nitro can do, the company has recently released a demo app featuring a visual representation of the Facebook social graph.

	<title>Taking JavaFX Head-on: Java SwingBuilder 0.1.RC1</title>
    <link>http://web2announcer.com/go/2662115</link>
    <author>unknown@DZone.com</author>
    <content:encoded>
    Java SwingBuilder is an attempt to bring dynamic language-type productivity to Java Swing UI development by defining the layout/event wiring/binding in a separate YAML file and leaving the Java class to focus on pure business-side code. Inspired by Groovy SwingBuilder (the concept in general), Ruby on Rails (YAML is the new JSON/XML, but leaner) and GTK+ libGlade (for the idea of keeping layout and event wiring in a separate file).

A few months ago Kirill wrote an great review of the &quot;auto-scrolling feature&quot; implementation in Swing.

    <content:encoded>
    The iPhone popularized multitouch displays--touch screens that recognize more than one touch at a time. Then Microsoft brought them to the large screen with the Surface, a multitouch table. Now engineers at Nortd in New York have created a do-it-yourself, 18-by-27-inch multitouch screen. By using open-source software and selling kits for building the hardware, Nortd has significantly reduced the cost of owning a multitouch display, while enabling freelance programmers to develop novel applications.

&amp;#xD;
There’s not much to this component, just a gradient and a compound line border that changes based on the focus state of the parent window. Below I’ve provided only the code related to the rendering of the bottom bar (i.e. not the code that lays out the bottom bar’s components).
